Gideon's Hearts --Out now from The Wild Rose Press

Every night detective Gideon Hawks walks a dangerous beat through the streets of Savannah, but when he meets Katheryne Alastair, he discovers a new threat...this one to his heart. Her delicate, sensual features and old-fashioned clothing lead him to believe she is homeless. Against his better judgment, he takes her home.

Katheryne, a vampire ready to end her existence, lies in wait for the approaching sunrise. But when the handsome detective attempts to help her, she finally finds peace within her heart. The heat of his touch triggers a blood lust she’s kept dormant for centuries. Is it possible Gideon is her soul mate? When Gideon is mortally wounded, Katheryne cannot let him die. If she turns him, will he forgive her, or worse, walk away? Or will the eternal love she holds for him end the suffering of her centuries-old vampiric curse?

“Please…”

“Everything’s going to be okay. I know I keep telling you that, but you have to trust me. I’m going to take you where you’ll be safe.”

Eyes the size of saucers stared back. Their lavender hue deepened. A shiver inched up his spine. He’d seen eyes that color before. They’d belonged to Gabriella, a woman—no, make that vampire—who tried to kill Zacke and Miranda in a fit of rage and jealousy.

He leaned down and placed one arm beneath the woman’s shoulders and one under her knees. He barely registered her slight weight. Her silver-blond hair fell over his arm and swung loose. The color and texture reminded him of moonbeams on a calm lake. She was nothing like Gabriella.

He brought her closer into his chest in an effort to warm her cold body. She tilted her head back. Her gaze looked calmer. Her lips parted. “Where are you taking me?”

Gideon wished he could listen to her velvet tone all night. That wasn’t an option. She needed warmth, food, and some rest.

He cleared his suddenly hoarse throat. “I’m taking you to my house.”

Panic filled her gaze once more. “Don’t worry, you’ll be as safe with me as you would be in your mother’s arms.”

The soft sigh she gave made him want to beat his chest. He just hoped he remembered he was playing the part of dear old mom.
